Welcome to Tibidabo Hiking Walking Barcelona 🙂
You are here because YOU WANT TO HIKE FROM BARCELONA TO TIBIDABO.
As you don't have a GPS with you, here you have these very easy to follow ‘old school’ directions to hike on your own to the summit of Tibidabo.
The starting point is Vallcarca Metro Station, which is very close to Park Güell
It's a 4 km excursion, with 400 meters gain elevation.
You will walk the first 2 km in urban areas and the last 2 km through the forest.
Expect to find some STEEP TRAILS.
It's vital to be in very good shape.
Take it easy, bring some water and appropiate clothes and shoes
***Remember there are some other options to get there on foot, but this one is the easiest to follow without GPS and it's a nice combination of trails and tracks. Other routes are softer, but longer, and they use some open traffic roads. And there are some other shortcuts, but then the route is difficult to follow and becomes extremely steep.
Vallcarca Metro Station
Look around and get familiar with what you see.
You must walk in the direction of the picture, passing under the big bridge.
just after passing under the bridge, you'll find a crossroad.
Cross the street and keep walking through the garden.
Same direction. Uphill.
In front of the hospital, there are two crosswalks with traffic lights.
Football fields on your right
Cross the street and keep walking up.
Two more crosswalks...
You must go over an underground highway.
Then turn left and walk through the trail ("desire path").
Avinguda del Tibidabo
In the corner, turn right following the signs of "Pl. de Funicular".
Km 1'8. Park Font del Racó
In the next corner, get into the park on your right.
Once inside the park, follow the signs of "Funicular del Tibidabo".
Funicular Tibidabo station
After crossing the park, you will see the Funicular Tibidabo station.
If you feel already tired, it's better you take the funicular. The hardest part of the route is coming.
***Information about this on wikipedia.
Leave the station on your right.
Walk up the street.
It becomes path very soon.
Just before the first building, take the hidden trail on the right.
Our hidden trail starts just before the wall and goes into the woods.
That old trail goes up through some stairs.
When the stairs end, turn left and take the track on the right, always uphill.
Continue through the left one, but only for 50 more meters.
Trail on the right
The sign says "Observatori Fabra".
This uphill sector can be breathless.
Follow the trail. There's only one.
Cross the paved track and take the trail at the other side.
Cross the road and take the upward trail at the other side.
Pay attention to traffic.
When the trail ends, turn left.
Watch for cars, bicycles, UFOs, etc. that often appear very suddenly in this blind junction.
Follow the little and curved road.
Yes, it's a church, not a castle.
From the very top.
YOU GOT IT!!!
